OUR BEGINNINGS
In 2009, company founder Ed Dutton took the first step toward creating what is now a large, dynamic team dedicated to the long-term health of New Zealand’s waterways. Starting with just a van and loyal his dog Rufus, Ed set out with a clear mission: to bring together a group of people who share his passion and vision for improving water quality across the country.
Drawing in his experience in the stormwater industry, selling stormwater treatment devices, Ed noticed that many stormwater systems across the motu were not being serviced adequately, and in some cases, not at all!
Motivated by this insight, Ed decided to take action. He committed himself to addressing the shortage of professional maintenance services and set the foundation for a business focused on quality, reliability, and environmental stewardship.

Decades on, Dutton Stormwater has expanded to more than 50 staff across Auckland, Pukekohe, and Christchurch, maintaining over 6,000 treatment devices.

Most stormwater treatment devices are designed in the form of a filter. Common sense suggests that filters block up and need to be cleared. We manage this concern for you. The frequency of maintenance is often stipulated on your resource consent. However, we work with you to ensure the frequency of maintenance is correct for your site.

HEALTHY WATERS TREATMENT DEVICE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT
In 2020 Dutton Stormwater were awarded the contract from Healthy Waters to maintain the treatment devices for the Auckland Region for the next five years. This was a culmination of years of working for contractors for Council and immersing ourselves in the stormwater treatment device space.
OUR STORMWATER RESPONSIBLE AWARDS
To acknowledge and publicly recognise the commitment of our customers to Responsible Stormwater Management, and to raise awareness of the importance of stormwater system maintenance, we have created the Stormwater Responsible badge. This badge is awarded to customers who demonstrate responsible stormwater practices by regularly maintaining their stormwater systems. Companies can then use this to show their own customers and the community they are doing their part to minimise contamination of our waterways.
To qualify, customers of Dutton Stormwater must have performed regular stormwater maintenance on their existing devices for at least two years, and/or have committed to two year’s scheduled maintenance on all stormwater devices going forward.
